LUFKIN, TEXAS MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL DRUG VIOLATIONS
(Lufkin, TX) United States Attorney Becky Gregory announced today that a 28 year old Lufkin, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
DANNY RAY POOL pleaded guilty to possessing with the intent to distribute cocaine base, also known as "crack" cocaine, today during an appearance before United States District Judge Thad Heartfield. A sentencing date for Pool has not been set.
According to information presented in Court, in August, 2007, a cooperating individual working with Lufkin Police Department officers, contacted Pool, who was a suspect in a narcotics investigation. The cooperating individual requested to purchase two ounces of "crack" cocaine from Pool, who agreed to sell the two ounces of crack for $1300.00. The ensuing drug transaction was captured by the investigating officers via video and audio recording devices. The crack cocaine, which was sent to the Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory for analysis, weighed 37.30 grams.
This case was investigated by the Lufkin Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lisa Flournoy.
