Project Safe Neighborhood
Utah Project Safe Neighborhoods is part of a nationwide initiative designed to reduce gun violence in communities around the country. The initiative includes partnerships among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and prosecutors as well as community organizations. Utah Project Safe Neighborhoods targets those who use firearms to commit violent crimes; those who use firearms to facilitate gang-related crimes; and those who are restricted under federal law from possessing a firearm, including individuals who have felony convictions, those who are in the country illegal, individuals convicted of domestic violence or subject to a protective or those addicted to a controlled substance.
"The most important elements of Utah Safe Neighborhoods are partnerships and cooperation. Federal, state, and local law enforcement and the community are working together to effect a significant reduction in the level of gun crime in Utah. We are working hard to deliver our anti-gun violence message to both the community at large as well as to the offenders that commit firearms-related crimes in our communities.”
