Dana J. Boente
Dana J. Boente serves as Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. The United States Attorney's Office, with offices in Alexandria, Richmond, Newport News, and Norfolk, is comprised of more than 125 attorneys and support staff, and has jurisdiction over 4.7 million residents. As Acting United States Attorney, Mr. Boente supervises the prosecution of all federal crimes, and the litigation of civil matters in which the federal government has an interest
Mr. Boente is a twenty-four year veteran of the Department of Justice. Before serving as Acting United States Attorney, Mr. Boente prosecuted fraud cases as an Assistant United States Attorney in federal court. He was selected as the First Assistant United States Attorney in June of 2007. He has previously served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General and as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice's Tax Division.
He is a graduate of St. Louis University School of Law. From 1982 to 1984, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable J. Waldo Ackerman, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
