Charlene Day
Assistant United States Attorney

Charlene Day is a native of Roanoke, Virginia. She attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Charlene also attended Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, Indiana.
Charlene began her career as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Richmond, Virginia in 1998. She then became an Assistant Public Defender for the City of Richmond from 1999 -2004. While in Richmond she handled a wide variety of state criminal cases including violent crimes. Charlene then went on to become an Assistant Public Defender in Roanoke, Virginia.
In 2004 she became an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for the City of Salem, Virginia and Interim Commonwealth Attorney for the City of Salem in 2005. Subsequently, she became an Assistant Attorney General in the Special Prosecutions Unit of the Virginia Office of the Attorney General and served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia in Roanoke from 2005 - 2008.
Ms. Day was sworn in as an Assistant United States Attorney in January 2008. She prosecutes white collar fraud and other criminal cases.
