United States Attorney's Office Launches Social Media
WDVA to Use Twitter and Facebook to More Effectively Communicate
ROANOKE, VIRGINIA -- United States Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy announced today that the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia will begin using Twitter and Facebook to more effectively communicate with the public, the media and law enforcement and community partners.
“Our goal is to provide a direct feed of information about the enforcement and prevention work being done in this office, as well as by our law enforcement and community partners in the Western District of Virginia,” United States Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy said today. “Social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook have become essential communication tools in our interconnected world. This United States Attorney’s Office will use social media in a variety of ways to better inform the public about the work we do, both in and out of the courtroom.”
The Twitter and Facebook accounts for the United States Attorney’s Office will be “live” as of this morning, Monday, August 20, 2012.
Twitter: @WDVAnews; The United States’s Attorney’s Office will use Twitter to broadcast information regarding our office’s case results and activity. We will use Twitter to provide information about the case work being handled by the office and send press releases, links to photos, transcripts of remarks, media advisories. We will also use Twitter to promote the prevention and outreach work being done in our office and by our law enforcement and community partners.
Facebook: The United States Attorney’s Office Facebook page will primarily be used to promote the office’s work in the community. The page will feature information about our community outreach efforts as well as the efforts being made by the community and law enforcement partners whose work the office supports.
