National RX Drug Abuse Summit 2013 Presentations

Dear Partner,
On November 14, 2012, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia hosted a Prescription Drug Abuse Summit in Wytheville, Virginia. Over 300 attendees gathered at the Summit to discuss the many manifestations of the problem of prescription drug abuse. We examined the issue from multiple perspectives and discussed law enforcement, education and treatment, and economic development impacts and solutions to the problem.
In the wake of the Summit, we are preparing a report which will include a specific set of recommendations for a holistic response to this persistent problem. Our research partners at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and Wise and Radford University are helping us focus this report and generate its recommendations. We will widely circulate the report when it is complete in early 2013, in the hope that it will continue the discussion and facilitate the partnerships that began to form at the Summit.
We have posted information generated for the Summit. In the weeks and months ahead, we will also post information about future events and links regarding the issue of prescription drug abuse.
