PAIR OF METH DEALERS SENTENCED TO LENGTHY PRISON TERMS

David Anders And Luz Rodriguez Each Get Over 10 Years

HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA -- A pair of local residents, convicted of dealing more than 500 grams of methamphetamine in the Harrisonburg area, will be off the streets for at least 10 years after each received a lengthy prison term yesterday in U.S. District Court.

David Anders, 23, and Luz Rodriguez, 38, both residents of Harrisonburg, were indicted in December of 2008 on multiple methamphetamine-related charges.

In May, Anders pled guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and one count of possessing with the intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine. Yesterday in District Court, Anders was sentenced to 120 months of incarceration to be followed by five years of supervised release.

Following a jury trial in May, Rodriguez was found guilty of the same two counts as Anders. Yesterday in District Court, she was sentenced to 132 months of incarceration to be followed by five years of supervised release.

The investigation of the case was conducted by the Harrisonburg Police Department and the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Jeb Terrien and Special Assistant United States Attorney Louis Nagy prosecuted the case for the United States.
