Computers and the internet haveprovided consumers, students, businesses and government a powerful new toolthat brings the world to our work and homes.Unfortunately, the internet age has also given criminals a new way tovictimize the elderly, children, businesses and the unsuspecting. Computer and high-tech crime is one of thegreatest challenges confronting the law enforcement community around the world. The United States Attorney’s Office iscommitted to confronting this challenge head on and bringing internet criminalsto justice.

Internet crime involves the use of theInternet to commit or facilitate the commission of and a crime, including the communicationof false or fraudulent representations to consumers. These crimes may include, but are not limited to, advance-fee schemes, non-delivery of goods or services,computer hacking, employment/business opportunity schemes and so-call“Phishing” schemes.
