FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 1, 2012

Burlington, VT – Following investigation of a complaint regarding compliance issues with the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") at the Savoy Theater in Montpelier, Vermont, the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont and the Savoy Theater have reached an agreement for the Savoy Theater to come into compliance with the ADA.

A review of the Savoy Theater revealed ADA compliance issues related to its lack of assistive listening devices. The Savoy Theater has remedied these issues by installing ADA compliant assistive listening devices. The Savoy Theater's owner, Terrence Youk, recognized his obligation to address the issues identified in the ADA complaint. Mr. Youk is to be commended for his cooperation with the Office of the United States Attorney in the compliance review.

Assistant United States Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest, in partnership with the Disability Rights Section of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, handled this matter on behalf of the United States. Further information on the ADA and its requirements may be found at www.ada.gov.
