MASSACHUSETTS MAN SENTENCED TO 15 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT FOR DISTRIBUTING MARIJUANA
The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont announced that Christopher Horne, 26, of Maynard, Massachusetts was recently sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge William K. Sessions III to 15 months imprisonment to be followed by four years of federal supervised release.
According to court records, Horne participated in a conspiracy to import hundreds of pounds of marijuana from Canada to Vermont for distribution to his customers throughout New England. Horne was first arrested in May 2003 in the Sheraton parking lot in Burlington, Vermont with approximately $194,000 of cash in a brief case that Horne intended to use to purchase approximately 80 pounds of marijuana. Court records show that Horne was also involved in the smuggling of numerous other loads of marijuana from Canada into the United States as well. This currency was forfeited to the United States and the majority of it was then distributed to state and local law enforcement agencies through an equitable sharing program.
This matter was investigated jointly by the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the Department of Homeland Security.
The United States is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Perell
