MILTON RESIDENT SENTENCED TO ONE YEAR OF IMPRISONMENT FOR BOB’S GUN SHOP BURGLARY
The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Tyler Bushey, 24, of Milton, Vermont was sentenced to one year of imprisonment by Judge William K. Sessions III in federal court. Judge Sessions also sentenced Bushey to two years supervised release and ordered him to pay full restitution in the amount of $5,446 to Bob’s Gun Shop and its insurance company.
According to Court records Bushey burglarized Bob’s Gun Shop in Milton, Vermont, just after midnight on February 10, 2008 and stolen 10 handguns. After the burglary Bushey took the stolen handguns to his home on Main St. in Milton. Three of these handguns were recovered at the time of Bushey’s arrest, one of which, a Ruger, .45 caliber pistol, was found in Bushey’s bedroom during the execution of a search warrant.
Bushey allegedly committed the burglary with a Christopher Rosenberger, of Winooski, who has also been charged in this matter. This matter, however, has not yet been resolved. A third defendant, William James Dunn, 25, formerly of Burlington, Vermont purchased one of the stolen handguns. Judge Sessions previously sentenced Dunn to 37 months imprisonment for possessing a firearm after having previously been convicted of a state felony drug offense.
This case was jointly investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. Prosecution of the case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Perella. Bushey is represented by Richard Goldsborough, of South Burlington.
