COLCHESTER MARIJUANA DEALER PLEADS GUILTY

The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Son Dang, age 38, of Colchester, Vermont, pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute marijuana today in Burlington before United States District Court Chief Judge William K. Sessions III.

A July, 2008 federal Indictment charged Dang with conspiring to distribute marijuana during 2007. Dang is the last of multiple defendants to plead guilty in several related cases filed in the wake of a DEA investigation of marijuana trafficking at Duncan’s Auto in Colchester in 2007. Dang was also indicted in connection with marijuana trafficking in Winooski in early 2008. His guilty plea today will render unnecessary the second prosecution. Dang agreed today not to contest the forfeiture of a BMW automobile.

Judge Sessions scheduled sentencing for November 30, 2009.

The case was investigated by the DEA Drug Task Force. Son Dang is represented by Burlington attorney Nancy Waples. The United States is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney William Darrow.
