NEW YORK MAN SENTENCED FOR DISTRIBUTION OF OXYCODONE

The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that
Kelvin L. Bowman, 32, of Warwick, New York, was sentenced on Friday in Brattleboro, Vermont, by the Hon. J. Garvan Murtha to 66 months of prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release for distributing Oxycodone in the Burlington, Vermont area. Bowman, who was arrested in Vermont on October 16, 2008, previously pled guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with possessing with the intent to distribute Oxycodone.

On Friday, after hearing testimony from a government witness and a statement from Mr. Bowman, the Court found that Bowman had been involved in bringing Oxycodone to Vermont from late January 2008, until his arrest in October 2008. The Court consulted the Sentencing Guidelines and then varied downward to impose a 66 month sentence of incarceration. Mr. Bowman was taken into custody at the conclusion of the hearing.

Mr. Bowman was represented by Alison S. Arms, Assistant Federal Public Defender. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eugenia A. P. Cowles handled the sentencing for the government.
