LEVEL III SEX OFFENDER GETS TEN YEAR TERM FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
JAMES RUSSELL BRADBURY, 44, of Seattle, Washington was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 5 years of supervised release for Possession of Child Pornography and Making False Statements. U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Zilly sentenced BRADBURY on Friday March 4, 2005 in the Federal Courthouse in Seattle.
According to court records, BRADBURY was arrested at the border crossing at Sumas, Washington on February 28, 2004 as he attempted to cross into the United States from Canada using a false identity. BRADBURY was attempting to use the identity of his deceased brother. BRADBURY is a Level III sex offender with 1988 convictions for Lewd Acts upon a Child and Child Molestation in California. A warrant had been issued for BRADBURY's arrest because of parole violations in California. He had never registered as a sex offender in Washington State.
In a search of BRADBURY's car, agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement discovered a laptop computer. The computer contained more than 300 images of child pornography. BRADBURY pleaded guilty on October 18, 2004.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Janet Freeman and Michael W. Dion.
