This program will focus on community policing initiatives in the state of Wisconsin and how to implement a successful program in your community. Police Chief Flynn from Milwaukee, Chief Wahlen from Racine and Chief Arts from Green Bay will each spend 45 minutes discussing successful community policing programs in their cities. The Chief’s will also participate in a one hour panel discussion which will be hosted by Michael Scott who is the Director of the Center for Problem-Oriented Policing, Inc. and clinical associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School. Afternoon sessions taught by Mike Scott will include the following topics: Basics of problem-oriented policing, situational crime prevention, and the resources of the POP Center.

Protecting Our Children: A Comprehensive Training Program for Law Enforcement Professionals - Green Bay Area

The U. S. Attorney’s office in partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), is offering a free one-day training program on, Protecting Our Children. This course has been designed for law enforcement, federal, state, or county prosecutors, probation and correction officers, social services and CAC agencies. The purpose of this training is to present the dynamics of the crimes committed against children and provide effective prevention strategies enabling participants to conduct effective child safety workshops in their own communities. Due to the sensitive nature of the material covered, this class is not designed for the general public. If you are a professional child advocate with a nonprofit organization, working directly with law enforcement, please have that law enforcement agency email NCMEC officials a statement to that effect (rjohnston@ncmec.org), and note that contact on your registration form.

Anti- Gang Summit for Southeastern Wisconsin

The U.S. Attorney's Office in cooperation with several local and state partners is sponsoring an Anti-Gang Summit for southeastern Wisconsin. The conference theme is “Working Together to Prevent Violence in our Communities". The conference is open to people throughout the state. The Target Audience is: Law enforcement officers, school resource / liaisons officers, Department of Corrections, school district personnel, probation and parole, local government officials, Prosecutors, Safe and Sound, Boys and Girls Clubs, Social service agencies etc.
The conference will be comprised of three plenary sessions and twenty-five individual workshops. Some of the topics include: Why are Gangs an Issue, Why are Gangs Attractive to Young People, Strategies to Address Gang Crime, Gangs in Southeastern Wisconsin, Restorative Justice Practices with Gangs, The Importance of Information Sharing among Law Enforcement Agencies, Community Re-Entry programs, The Impact of Intelligence Led Policing on Eradicating Gang Violence, Gang Prevention Programs / Strategies for Early Intervention, Gangs and the Internet / Technology and new trends, Challenges Facing American Schools in the next 3 to 5 years, Role of Faith Based Community Organizations in Helping to Prevent Gang Violence, Gang Enforcement / Suppression programs, Innovation Programs for at Risk Youth, Patrol Officer Strategies for Dealing with Gang Members and Developing Confidential Informants, Gang Diversion Programs, Building Strong Partnerships between the Schools and Law Enforcement, Interview and Interrogation Techniques and many more.
