Native American Heritage Month - November 2010

The purpose of Native American Indian Heritage Month is to honor and recognize the original peoples of this land. This year we invited tribal leaders from the Menominee Indian Reservation to conduct a presentation for our ‘federal family’on their unique culture. Students from the Menominee Tribal High School performed Native American dances and drumming, and staff from Maehnowesekiyah Wellness Center at the Menominee Indian Reservation conducted a presentation on domestic violence in Indian Country. During the lunch hour, Indian tacos and wild rice were enjoyed by all!
