Mexican Citizen Sentenced to Six Month for Illegally Reentering US
Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Diego Duran-Martinez, a citizen of Mexico found in Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William Conley to six months in prison for illegally re-entering the United States after previously having been deported to Mexico. Duran-Martinez pleaded guilty to this charge on February 13, 2013.
Duran-Martinez was arrested in Madison on December 9, 2012, when officers from the Department of Homeland Security became aware that he had returned to the United States after previously being deported in 2007.
The charge against the defendant was the result of an investigation conducted by the Department of Homeland Security. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul W. Connell.
