WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 22 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on March 16, 2009, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that ASHLEY NICOLE MARTIN was sentenced to five months imprisonment to be followed by two years of supervised release. The Court also ordered that the first five months of MARTIN’s supervised release period be served under home confinement. MARTIN entered a plea of guilty on January 16, 2009, to one count of providing a false statement in the acquisition of a firearm on February 6, 2008, in Wheeling. MARTIN, in connection with the acquisition of a Bersa, Model Thunder 380 pistol, made a false statement by stating she was the actual buyer of the firearm when she was acquiring the firearm for another person.
MARTIN, who is currently free on bond, will self-report to a designated federal institution.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
