Upshur County Resident Entered Guilty Plea
To Methamphetamine Conspiracy Charge
ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — A 34 year old Upshur County, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on April 30, 2009, in United States District Court in Elkins before Judge Robert E. Maxwell.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that THOMAS RAY SHIPLEY entered a plea of guilty to an Information charging him with conspiring to possess chemical, product, and material which may be used to manufacture methamphetamine and with the intent to facilitate the manufacturing of methamphetamine from the Spring of 2008 to January of 2009 in Upshur County and elsewhere.
SHIPLEY, who is currently in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner. The case was investigated by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
