Harper Ferry Resident Entered Guilty Plea
to Lying to a Federal Officer

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 56 year old Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty today (August 9, 2010) in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that KATHLEEN BROOKS entered a plea of guilty to an Information charging her with lying to a federal officer on July 13, 2010, about a fugitive’s whereabouts. BROOKS, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the United States Marshal’s Service.
