Two Individuals Enter Pleas of Guilty on Escape Charge

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - Two individuals entered pleas of guilty on August 9, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate John S. Kaull.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that:

DEAN EDWARD WHITMAN, JR., age 56 and an inmate at FCI Morgantown and SANDRA THOMPSON, age 53, of Madison Ohio, entered pleas of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging them with aiding and abetting each other in the escape of WHITMAN from FCI Morgantown on April 15, 2010. WHITMAN, who is in custody pending sentencing, and THOMPSON, who is free on bond pending sentencing, each face a maximum exposure of 5 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sherry L. Muncy and was investigated by the United States Marshals Service.
