Harpers Ferry Resident Entered Guilty Plea
to Giving a False Statement to a Federal Officer

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 27 year old Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on September 7, 2010, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that CHRISTOPHER COGLE entered a plea of guilty to giving a false statement to a federal officer. On July 13, 2010, COGLE lied to a Deputy U. COGLE knew where Candy Taulton was located and moved her to a new location shortly after being interviewed by the Deputy U. S. Marshal.

COGLE, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the U. S. Marshal Service and the West Virginia State Police.
