Federal Inmate Convicted in Bench Trial
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 36 year old federal inmate was convicted following a trial on September 2, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that AARON THOMAS was convicted on Count One of an Indictment charging him with threatening to kill a Correctional Officer at USP Hazelton on January 26, 2010; and on Count Two of the Indictment charging him with assaulting the Correctional Officer and causing injury.
THOMAS, who is in custody, faces a maximum penalty of eight years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on Count One of the Indictment; and a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on Count Two of the Indictment.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Brandon S. Flower and Sherry L. Muncy. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Special Investigative Services at USP Hazelton.
