Federal Inmate Sentenced on Escape Charge

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 56 year old federal inmate was sentenced on August 31, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that DEAN EDWARD WHITMAN, JR., an inmate at FCI Morgantown, was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment to be served consecutively to his current sentence. WHITMAN entered a plea to one count of an Indictment charging him with leaving Ruby Memorial Hospital and escaping to Ohio on April 15, 2010, while he was on medical furlough from FCI Morgantown at the hospital. He was arrested in Ohio later on the same day.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sherry L. Muncy. The case was investigated by the United States Marshal Service.
