Pittsburgh Resident Sentenced on Heroin Charges
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 27-year old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, resident was sentenced on December 2, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: HERBERT DEVAUGHN a/k/a “WOP,” was sentenced to 360 months imprisonment to be followed by six years of supervised release. DEVAUGHN was convicted at trial on August 25, 2011, on 11 counts of an Indictment charging him with one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin from the Summer of 2007 to August 24, 2010, in the Monongalia County area; eight counts of distribution of heroin on September 28, 2009; on July 15, 2010; on two occasions on August 4, 2010; and on four occasions on August 24, 2010; in Monongalia County; one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin on August 8, 2010, in Monongalia County; and one count of using two individuals under the age of 18 years to distribute heroin on August 24, 2010.
DEVAUGHN was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and was investigated by the Mon Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Morgantown Police Department, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
