Clarksburg Resident Sentenced for
Possession of Stolen Mail

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 57 year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on November 30, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M . Kelley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: GEORGE JUNIOR JONES, SR. was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment to be followed by two years of supervised release. JONES entered a plea of guilty on August 15, 2011, to one count of unlawful possession of mail which had been stolen from an authorized depository for mail matter on September 13, 2010, in Shinnston, West Virginia. JONES was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner and was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police.
