Federal Inmate Sentenced for
Possessing a “Shank”
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 25 year old federal inmate was sentenced on July 12, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that PETER FRANCO-FERNANDEZ was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. FRANCO-FERNANDEZ entered a plea of guilty to a one-count Indictment charging him with possession of a weapon, also known as a “shank,” on December 9, 2010, at USP Hazelton.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brandon S. Flower. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services at USP Hazelton.
