Defendant Sentenced for Distributing Drugs
in Marion County

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 27 year old federal defendant was sentenced on October 25, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that RUFUS DIXON was sentenced to 70 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. DIXON entered a plea of guilty on July 12, 2011, to one count of an Indictment charging him with possession of cocaine and marijuana with the intent to distribute on February 24, 2011, in Marion County. The Court also ordered the forfeiture of $16,090 seized from DIXON on February 24, 2011. DIXON was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal Institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and was investigated by the Three Rivers Drug Task Force and the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The Task Force consists of officers from the Fairmont Police Department and the Monongah Police Department.
