Martinsburg Resident Sentenced in Federal Court

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 41-year old Martinsburg, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on October 17, 2011, in United States District Court in Martinsburg by Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that: EDWARD HARDY LIGHT, JR., was sentenced to 262 months imprisonment to be followed by five years of supervised release. LIGHT entered a plea of guilty on June 6, 2011, to one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. LIGHT was stopped by police on March 4, 2010, and found to be in possession of heroin, a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum pistol and a .22 caliber York revolver. LIGHT was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the West Virginia States Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
