Clarksburg Resident Enters Plea to Tax Charges
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 62 year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on August 28, 2012, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: MICHAEL ECK entered a plea of guilty to Failure to file Tax Returns for the years 2007 and 2008, despite having earned over $200,000 during that time period from a dog breeding business and other sources of income. ECK, who is free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 2 years imprisonment and $500,000 fine.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew R. Cogar and was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations.
