Detroit Resident Convicted on Firearms Charge
WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 34 year old Detroit, Michigan, resident was convicted on January 20, 2012, by a Wheeling jury on one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The trial lasted three days and concluded on Friday afternoon after the jury had deliberated for just 90 minutes. Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. presided over the trial.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: JOSEPH SAMUEL HALL was convicted of possession of a firearm on February 27, 2011, in Triadelphia, West Virginia, after having previously been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year. HALL, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys David J. Perri and Michael D. Stein and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
