Wheeling Resident Sentenced on Firearms Charge

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - A 29 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on May 7, 2012, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that AIRIEL UNDERWOOD was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day imprisonment to be followed by two years of supervised release. UNDERWOOD entered a plea of guilty on July 19, 2011, to knowingly making a false written statement on February 19, 2011, to Cabela’s, a federally licensed firearms dealer, to acquire two firearms for and on behalf of a prohibited person. UNDERWOOD was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
