FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OHIO COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO
46 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY POSSESSION

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A 38-year old Valley Grove, West Virginia, man who admitted to having hundreds of images of child pornography on his home computer was sentenced to prison today in federal court.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that KEVIN BLAINE JOHNSON was sentenced to 46 months imprisonment to be followed by 50 years of supervised release, as well as lifetime registration as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

JOHNSON entered a plea of guilty on August 28, 2012, to the felony offense of “Possession of Child Pornography.” JOHNSON admitted that he downloaded sexually explicit images of children from the internet to his computer and evidence indicated that in addition to obtaining images from the internet, JOHNSON also took his own photos of a young boy who was a guest in his home.

JOHNSON had previously been investigated for similar acts elsewhere in West Virginia and served approximately six months in state custody for related charges. However, the time served by JOHNSON in state custody will not be credited towards his federal sentence.

JOHNSON was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Ihlenfeld and investigated by Lt. Joseph Cuchta of the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department.
