Two Individuals Arrested on Firearms Charges
Pursuant to Federal Indictments

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - Two individuals were arrested and appeared before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel pursuant to Indictments returned against them by a Federal Grand Jury sitting in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

WILLIAM LAWRENCE, age 64, of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, was charged in a seven-count Indictment charging him with one count of Engaging in Business of Dealing Firearms Without a License from July through September of 2012, and six counts of Sale of a Firearm to a Prohibited Person.

WILBUR SLICK, age 60, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, was charged in a six-count Indictment charging him with one count of Engaging in Business of Dealing Firearms Without a License from August 5 to November 5, 2012, and five counts of Sale of a Firearm to a Prohibited Person.

LAWRENCE and SLICK appeared before Magistrate Judge Joel on November 28,
2012, for their arraignments and were released on bond.

If convicted LAWRENCE and SLICK face up to 10 years imprisonment and $250,000 fine on each count.

The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jarod J. Douglas and investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

It should be noted that the charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations and not evidence of guilt, and that each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
