Morgantown Resident Sentenced on Mail Fraud Charge
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 30 year-old Morgantown, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on September 10, 2012, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: JAYNESH PATEL was sentenced to 57 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. PATEL entered a plea of guilty on February 13, 2012, to one count of mail fraud by fraudulently obtaining credit cards in the name of other individuals for unauthorized expenditures in and around Morgantown and Washington, Pennsylvania. PATEL was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $54,211.01 to multiple victims of his criminal activity.
PATEL was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew R. Cogar and investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service.
