Morgantown Resident Sentenced to
10 Years for Possession of Heroin
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 26 year old Morgantown, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on November 27, 2007, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Chief Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that ANTHONY MEREDITH was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release, pursuant to an earlier entered plea of guilty. MEREDITH entered a plea of guilty on August 13, 2007, to one count of an Information charging him with possession with intent to distribute heroin on May 29, 2007, in Monongalia County.
MEREDITH is in federal custody.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley. The case was investigated by the Mon Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Morgantown Police Department, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
