Norfolk, Virginia, Resident Sentenced to 7 Years
For Using a Firearm During a Crime of Violence
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 25 year old Norfolk, Virginia, resident was sentenced on April 2, 2008, in United States District Court in Martinsburg by Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that DEWAYNE LAMONT MCGREGOR was sentenced to 84 months imprisonment to be followed by five years supervised release, pursuant to an earlier entered plea of guilty. MCGREGOR entered a plea of guilty on January 7, 2008, to one count of an Indictment charging him with using a firearm in connection with a crime of violence. Specifically, MCGREGOR entered Paesano Pizza in Berkeley County, West Virginia, on June 17, 2007, masked and armed with a Ruger pistol. He struck an employee with the pistol and demanded the money from the cash register. MCGREGOR was apprehended as he fled.
MCGREGOR is in federal custody.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
