Maryland Resident Sentenced on Marijuana
and Firearms Charges
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 41 year old former West Union, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on October 10, 2008, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that JOHN WOODROW POLLARD, who currently resides in the State of Maryland, was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment to be followed by four years of supervised release. POLLARD entered a plea of guilty on April 9, 2008, to one count of manufacturing more than 100 marijuana plants from August 2006 to November 1, 2007, in West Union; and one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm on November 1, 2007, in West Union. As part of his plea, POLLARD agreed to the forfeiture of seven firearms seized from his residence on November 1, 2007. POLLARD was released on bond and will self-report to the designated Federal institution.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn A. Morgan. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the West Virginia State Police.
