Mexican Citizen Sentenced for
Illegally Re-entering the United States
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 31 year old Mexican citizen was sentenced on April 6, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that EMANUEL LOPEZ-RAMIREZ entered a plea of guilty to an Information charging LOPEZ-RAMIREZ, who had previously been deported on March 2, 2004; November 2, 2004; and again on July 1, 2008; with re-entering the United States without first obtaining the express consent of the Attorney General of the United States to reapply for admission to the United States. LOPEZ-RAMIREZ was found in the United States in Doddridge County, West Virginia, on February 2, 2009.
Judge Keeley sentenced LOPEZ-RAMIREZ to three months imprisonment and he was given credit for time served.
LOPEZ-RAMIREZ now faces deportation proceedings.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner. The case was investigated by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
