HUNTINGTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG CHARGE

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Nicholas Divita, 31, of Huntington, West Virginia, pleaded guilty yesterday before United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Divita, who is scheduled to be sentenced on July 12, 2010, faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. On March 14, 2009, task force agents with the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team arrested Divita while he was en route to sell cocaine to an informant. Putnam County sheriff's deputies stopped Divita while he was traveling eastbound on Interstate 64 near Teays Valley, West Virginia. Deputies located approximately six ounces of cocaine in Divita's possession. A subsequent search warrant for Divita's residence revealed an additional 12 ounces of cocaine. The Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team, Huntington Police Department, and the Putnam County Sheriff's Department jointly conducted the investigation.
