Northern Arapaho Man Sentenced for Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury
United States Attorney Christopher A. Crofts announced today that Mervin Black, an enrolled Northern Arapaho Tribal member of the Wind River Reservation, was sentenced in federal court after having pled guilty to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The Defendant assaulted a man using brass knuckles, causing serious bodily injury to the victim. He was sentenced to 60 months of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $14,023.98 in restitution for the victim’s medical bills. The Defendant was recommended for drug and alcohol treatment as a part of his term of imprisonment.
Northern Arapaho Man Sentenced For Sexual Abuse
United States Attorney Christopher A. Crofts announced that on July 29, 2011, 25-year-old Garnett Rapheal Addison of the Wind River Indian Reservation appeared in Federal District Court for sentencing on a single count of sexual abuse for an April 2009 sexual act involving a minor on the Wind River Indian Reservation. The charge carried a maximum penalty of up to life imprisonment, a $250,000.00 fine, or both; supervised release of not less than five years nor more than life; restitution; and a $100.00 special assessment. Addison received 87 months of imprisonment, fifteen years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $500.00 fine.
