Sentences for January 19 through January 25, 2012

CHEYENNE, WY - David Amaton, 34, of San Jose, California, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Clarence A. Brimmer on January, 25, 2012, for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 100 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of heroin. Amaton was arrested in San Jose. He received 46 months of imprisonment, to be followed by four years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and a $200.00 fine. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

CHEYENNE, WY - Shannon Lee Winkler, 37, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on January 23, 2012, for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 142 grams of methamphetamine. Winkler was arrested in Plattsmouth. She received 120 months of imprisonment, to be followed by eight years of supervised release. She was also ordered to pay a $100.00 assessment and a $300.00 fine. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

CHEYENNE, WY - Matt Kallgren, 31, of Afton, Wyoming, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on January 23, 2012, for conspiracy to violate export laws. Kallgren was arrested in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received three years probation with the first four months in home confinement, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and a $1000.00 fine. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

CHEYENNE, WY - Rolando Mendoza-Mendez, 25, of Guatemala, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on January 23, 2012, for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Mendoza-Mendez was arrested in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received time served, plus ten days, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

CHEYENNE, WY - Myron Smith, 34, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on January 19, 2012, for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Smith was arrested in Cheyenne. He received 84 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and a $700.00 fine. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
