United States Department of JusticeBETH ROBERTS DERRICK was appointed June 6, 1988 as the Assistant U.S. Trustee in charge of the Nashville office of Region 8 which includes Kentucky and Tennessee. Ms. Derrick received the U.S. Trustee Program Special Act of Service Award in July 1992 for her work on Chapter 7 Policies and in July 1996 she was nominated by the Executive Office for the U.S. Trustees for the U.S. Attorney General’s award for her work as manager of the Nashville office. She has been a member of the U.S. Trustee internal evaluation program which reviews the performance of U.S. Trustee regions across the country and reports to the Executive Office of the U.S. Trustees. She has been a contributing writer to U.S. Trustee manuals and policy statements and was on the Performance Standards Committee of the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees. Ms. Derrick is currently a member of the Chapter 7 Subcommittee of the EOUST. She has contributed articles to Checks and Balances, Tennessee Bar Association's Committee for Banking and Bankruptcy Law newsletter and the Norton Bankruptcy Law Advisor.
Ms. Derrick is a member of the American Bar Association, Lawyers Association for Women, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Nashville Bar Association. She is past treasurer for the Nashville chapter of LAW and is a past chair of the bankruptcy committee of the Nashville Bar Association. She is also a board member of the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute, having served as President of the Institute for its 2002 fiscal year. Ms. Derrick received her B.S. degree in business administration and her J.D. from the University of Tennessee. She clerked for bankruptcy judges Paul E. Jennings and Keith M. Lundin. For six years prior to becoming an Assistant U.S. Trustee, Ms. Derrick was in private practice, specializing in commercial law and chapter 11 reorganizations.
