Dear Mr. Zwick,

I am distressed to learn that the Department of Justice is receiving recommendations to withhold funds from families of gay and lesbian victims of the September 11 disasters. Just as the terrorists who caused the deaths of thousands of Americans of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds made no distinctions among their victims, so should relief funds be distributed to all familes without discrimination.

The loss of a loved one is no less painful to a lesbian woman or gay man than to anyone else suffering such a loss; the support of our government and its citizens should be no less generous to the survivors of any of the victims of these tragic attacks.

I urge you to treat all families alike, to treat families of gay and lesbian victims as any others.

Sincerely,
Individual Comment
