Kingston ACTiVITY REPORT OFFICE OF TRUST RECORDS August 1 -31, 2006 PROGRAMMATIC: Labat-Anderson (Labat Indexing Project) Labat reported that indexing of 1,420 boxes of inactive Indian records was completed in August 2006. The total number of boxes completed through August 2006 is approximately 145,595. * Movement of Records The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Office of the Special Trustee (OST) moved 1,473 boxes of inactive records from various field locations to Lenexa, Kansas, for indexing and subsequent storage at the American Indian Records Repository (AJRR) during this reporting period. * Site Assessment Statement During the month of August, OTRA perfoimed record assessments for Rocky Mountain Region BIA and PM offices, Land Consolidation Office, Minnesota Agency BIA and JIM offices, Fort Totten Agency BIA and JIM offices and Great Lakes Agency BIA and HM offices. OTRA issued final records assessment reports for Fort Totten Agency BIA and JIM offices, Blackfeet Agency BIA and JIM offices, Northern Cheyenne Agency BIA office, Crow Agency BIA office, Michigan Agency BIA office, Great Lakes Agency IIM office and Rocky Mountain Regional JIM office. * Records Training OTR provided records management training for 123 BIA records contacts and 94 tribal employees in August 2006. * Equipment 30 pieces of fireproof filing equipment were delivered to BIA, 4 pieces to OST and 57 pieces to tribal offices in August 2006. * Litigation Support and Research Requests OTR continued to provide significant support to the Office of the Solicitor, Office of Historical Trust Accounting and its contractors, and the Department of Justice and its contractors. AJRR staff provided responses to 419 research requests from BIA, OST and other requesters. 1 ADMINISTRATIVE: General administrative activities continued. GENERAL OBSERVATIONS: None.
