It generally declined until 1986 when it began to rise again. It peaked in 1993 and 1994 and has been declining since then to an all time low in 2000.
Victimizations reported to the police fluctuated but increased between 1973 and 1982. They fluctuated slightly thorough the 1980's but remained generally stable. They increased during the early 1990's and then generally declined from 1995 through 2000.
Between 1973 and 1991 crimes recorded by the police increased, peaking in 1992. Since 1992, they have declined.
Arrests for violent crime have been gradually increasing between 1973 and 1995. Since then, they have declined.
