     WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Justice Department today provided
government agencies further guidance on when and how affirmative
action can be used in the federal workplace.  The guidance stems
from an ongoing review of federal affirmative action programs
following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Adarand
Constructors, Inc. v. Pena.
     A copy of the memorandum to General Counsel of each agency may
be picked up at the entrance of the Justice Department between 9th
St. & 10th St. on Constitution Ave.
