STATEMENT BY ATTORNEY GENERAL JANET RENO ON THE VERDICT IN THE TRIAL OF TERRY LYNN NICHOLS

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- "Two and a half years ago, when the Murrah building was bombed, FBI Director Louis Freeh and I promised to follow every lead and bring those responsible to justice. Today, that promise has been kept.

"The jury has declared Terry Nichols responsible for this crime. We should all be proud of the prosecutors, agents and state and local officials who worked so hard on this case.

"Most importantly, the thoughts and prayers of every American tonight should be with the victims, the survivors and their families. They have stood steadfastly with us for more than two years.

"No verdict can bring a loved one back, but today we have taken an important step forward in the process of healing."
