                ATTORNEY GENERAL RENO'S STATEMENT
                 ON THE DEATH OF JUSTICE BRENNAN

     I was very saddened to hear today that Justice William J.
Brennan has passed away.  America has lost a great justice. 
Justice Brennan stood up for people who had no voice.  He devoted
his long, rich life to helping the American justice system live
up to its ideals.  He made a difference, and he will be
remembered always by all Americans who prize the rule of law.

     Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones.
