       DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING OF 
                 TRUTH-IN-SENTENCING COMMISSION

     WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Tuesday the District of Columbia
Truth-in-Sentencing Commission, chaired by Deputy Attorney
General Eric H. Holder, Jr.,  will hold a public meeting.  The
agenda will include, among other items, approval of the September
30, 1997, meeting transcript, and a discussion of draft statutory
language designed to comply with the mandate of the Truth-in-
Sentencing provisions of the D.C. Revitalization Act.
